Terms of Service

Last updated: June 7, 2026
The short version: A New Story gives free information, tools, and a provider directory to help families, and offers paid expert advocacy work on your child's case. We provide advocacy and education โ€” not legal advice, and we don't represent families in due-process hearings or litigation. We never guarantee an outcome, and no one pays us to be recommended.

1. Who we are

A New Story Advocacy, LLC operates this website to help parents of children with disabilities understand and navigate special education. Our free resources are provided as a public service.

2. Information, not legal advice

Everything on this site is general educational information. It is not legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. We are non-attorney advocates. Special-education law and timelines vary by state and change over time; verify specifics for your situation, and consult a licensed attorney for legal advice or representation (including due-process hearings and litigation), which we do not provide.

3. Our directory & recommendations

Providers and schools are listed by clear criteria (such as licensure, board certification, and specialization). Listing is never pay-to-play โ€” no one pays to be included or ranked. Inclusion is not an endorsement or guarantee, and the absence of a provider says nothing about their quality. Always do your own due diligence and verify credentials before engaging any provider.

4. A free resource

A New Story is a free informational and advocacy resource. We do not sell services, review your child's records, or represent you, and we do not guarantee any educational outcome, eligibility determination, placement, or funding result. Decisions are made by schools, districts, and agencies, not by us.

5. No outcome guarantee; your responsibility

We bring real expertise and effort, but you remain responsible for decisions about your child. Use of our free tools (checklists, letter templates, observation and milestone tools) is at your discretion.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, A New Story Advocacy, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of this site or our free resources.

7. Accuracy & changes

We work hard to be correct and current in all 50 states, but we cannot warrant that every detail is error-free or up to date. If you spot an error, please tell us via our error-report link. We may update these Terms; the "last updated" date reflects the current version.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information, including your child's records.
