Terms & honest disclaimers

The terms — written to be understood, not to hide things.

By using this site or our services, you're agreeing to the simple, honest terms below. We've kept them in plain language on purpose.

The short version

We're special-education advocates, not attorneys, and our help is guidance grounded in federal law — not legal or medical advice. We can't and don't guarantee outcomes. The providers we recommend are independent organizations — we vet them by credentials, but you choose and engage them yourself. Your first reply is free; you only pay if you decide to move forward.

What A New Story is — and isn't

A New Story provides special-education advocacy, IEP/records review, research, and written guidance for parents and guardians. Our work is grounded in federal law (IDEA & Section 504), but it is not legal representation and is not legal advice. We are not attorneys. We are also not medical or mental-health providers, and nothing here is medical, psychological, or diagnostic advice. For legal or medical decisions, consult a licensed attorney or clinician — and we'll gladly help you find one.

No guaranteed outcomes

Every child, school, and district is different. We bring real expertise and effort, but we cannot promise a particular result — a specific service, placement, eligibility decision, or dollar figure. Anyone who guarantees a special-education outcome should be treated with caution.

About the provider recommendations

The evaluators, schools, therapists, doctors, and advocates we list are independent organizations and professionals — they are not employed by or partnered with A New Story unless explicitly stated. We select them by credentials and accreditation as a free public service, but we don't control their work, and we don't warrant their services. You are responsible for choosing, vetting, and engaging any provider, and any agreement is between you and them. Please verify current credentials, licensure, fees, and insurance directly.

Your part

So we can help well, please give us accurate information and share only records you have the right to share. The plans and guidance we provide are for your family's use in advocating for your child; please don't resell or redistribute them.

Payment

Your first reply and honest quote are free. Fees (currently a flat $350 for a standard review, with reduced-fee spots available) are disclosed before you commit, and you only pay if you choose to proceed. Any refund questions are handled fairly and personally — just ask.

Privacy

How we handle your child's information is covered in our Privacy & Records page, which is part of these terms.

The limits

We provide our services and this website in good faith and to a high standard, but to the extent the law allows, A New Story isn't liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for the actions of independent providers. Nothing here limits any right you have that can't be limited by law.

Updates

We may update these terms; the current version always lives here with its date. If we change something meaningful, the spirit stays the same: honest, plain, and on your side.

Last updated: June 2026.
